Miniature Commissions
Currently I am not accepting new commissions. Please contact me in October 2010 if you're interested in a custom miniature. I appreciate your patience!
The first question I usually get is, ‘What do you charge to paint a mini?’ Here’s the fine print.
$300 is my base price for a standard 28-30mm character model. Mounted models, elaborate banners, scenic bases, lots of scratch sculpting, or other time-intensive additions will cost more. Unless you have an extraordinary request, the price I quote will include all materials and supplies used (epoxy putty, paints, ground cover, etc.). At this time I do not paint vehicles or units. Please don’t inquire about miniatures painted to a lower quality for a lower price.
Half the agreed payment is required before I begin working on a commission. At that time we’ll discuss and finalize the details of the model, such as conversion work, color scheme, and basing. Any changes in this agreement after I’ve begun work on the model—if, for example, you want a different color or weapon--will incur an extra charge, proportionate to the time required. I prefer payment via money order or PayPal. Checks are accepted but must clear before work begins or the miniature is shipped. Payment by check requires an additional $10.
When the mini is finished, you’ll receive photos for final approval. Payment in full is required before shipping the mini. I pack carefully and will ship worldwide using the carrier of your choice. Standard international air mail or USPS Priority Mail is included in the initial quote. You may opt for overnight or express services at their actual cost.
You may supply the mini and any special materials, or (in most cases) I can provide it at average retail cost. Miniatures sent to me preferably should be unprimed and unassembled. I clean and assemble minis scrupulously, and will not make any discount for previously prepped models.
Normally I can complete a commission within one month after the initial payment is made. If my schedule is tight (before conventions and competitions, for example) or your mini will require extra time, I’ll give you an estimate of the time frame in our initial agreement. If unforeseen circumstances delay work beyond the agreed date, I’ll reduce the fee somewhat.
The photographs I take of models, in progress or finished, are copyrighted to me, and I retain the rights to use them as I see fit. You may put an image on your website or in a public gallery as long as I am credited as the painter. They may not be posted elsewhere or used for commercial purposes without written permission. Photographs taken by others may be used if, again, I am credited as the painter.
